Barolo School Trip: Core Itinerary

Barolo Spring 2026 School Trip: Saturday 23rd - Sunday 24th May

Note: this product is for the Core Itinerary for Saturday and Sunday. There are other add on events on Friday 22nd (fine dining) and Monday 25th May (likely to be a hazelnut farm visit).

NYN School trips are one of the best ways to get to know the community, make new friends and taste so much wine you declare a detox (rarely implemented). Many members come on school trips but they are open to anyone who wants to enjoy a lovely weekend.

Alex has claimed Barolo as the most beautiful wine making location. It could be the never ending views of rolling hills with neat vineyards… but he does also have a small obsession with these cute ciabòt that can be found in Barolo vineyards. Good place for a quick post-lunch nap?

It has been a real privilege for us to partner with the exceptional Gian Luca Colombo for the Autumn 2025 harvest. Gian Luca is data-driven, highly-motivated and a very entertaining! We are very lucky to have him as our host for our Spring 2026 trip! Stay tuned for more information about what democratic activity we will be engaging in this time around. Previous school trips have included acidification options and grape blending proposals.

Of course, as with all school trips, this adventure goes beyond a single event and is about exploring the region, its history, culture, food (and a little bit of wine!).

Below is an example schedule - we will work with local partners to finalise the details nearer to the time. Private transportation is included for both days.

Saturday - Wine tasting + Gian Luca democratic event + dinner in Alba

We will start our day with a tasting at a local winery before moving onto the main democratic event at Gian Luca Colombo’s vineyard. Here we will provide food and be ready for an interactive wine making afternoon! After all this hard work, we will have a team dinner in a local restaurant in Alba.

Sunday - wine tastings + beautiful lunch

We will explore the broader region with two additional winery visits and have a lovely local lunch in one of Gian Luca’s favourite locals. The (literal) depths they went to in order to find the perfect wine for us when we went was true dedication!

Please make your hotel bookings directly; we will be based in Alba which is a lovely town.

If anyone would like transport arranged to/from the airport, or any other questions/ideas, please email dee@notyetnamedwineco.com.
